The skis that will change how you rip down the mountain, the Blade is your go-to ski when you want to have a ridiculous amount of fun at the resort. A Gas Pedal Metal™ layup allows these skis to charge through any condition, while a super tight sidecut offers the ability to turn on a dime. Pair this with a surprising amount of playfulness, and you’ve got one set of skis that will empower you to ski weird, ski different, and ski #morefunner.
Downhill performance
C/FX Carbon and flax laminate delivers power and stability like metal, at a fraction of the weight. It delivers a smooth ride in the varying terrains of the backcountry.
Touring efficiency
Spaceframe 2.0 is less material in key areas along the length of the ski that reduces overall weight for easier ascents.
Stability
Pre-shaped 3D Karuba woodcore ensures great ski-to-snow contact and reduces vibrations, with less weight.
A full Woodcore construction maximizes liveliness, stability and ski-to-snow contact while filtering vibrations.
Cork Damplifier
Cork is three times more absorbing than Koroyd. Using it in the tip of the ski enables a high level of vibration absorption and dampening with even less weight.
Skin Tail Clip
Precut notch in the tail of the ski allows quick, easy and secure attachment of climbing skins.
All Terrain Rocker
Rocker tip, early rise tail and camber underfoot.
Monocoque
A single fiber layer structuring the ski and making it more durable. It’s light, forgiving and facilitates maneuverability.
A 0.3mm thick Titanal binding platform ensures direct power transfer and quick pressure build-up from edge to edge. You’ll especially benefit from the ski’s faster, more direct response on narrow, rough terrain – and with less effort. The Blaze was designed primarily for short, fast turns, but the three different radii and multi-layered hybrid wood core from tip to tail accommodate even the most ambitious riding styles.
Another notable feature is the tip suspension. The elastic, rubbery material in the tip and tail acts as a bumper in windy or piste conditions. It also improves resistance to disturbances and provides fantastic flotation.
Thanks to their light weight, Blaze skis are also used as freeride touring skis. For this purpose, Völkl also offers Smart Glue skins that are custom made for each Blaze model.
